Beefing Up My Shelves – MAR. 02, 2011!

Last weekend, I travelled to the Eastern parts of the country and so luckily bought some important books. As part of my Booker challenge, I have been looking hard for some particular books. I was so lucky to have come across three books by the same author – Penelope Lively – A Booker Prize Winner.

Let me take some time here to tell you a few things about this author:

‘Penelope Lively CBE, FRSL (born March 17, 1933) is a prolific, popular and critically acclaimed author of fiction for both children and adults. She has been shortlisted three times for the Booker Prize, winning once for Moon Tiger in 1987.’ You can read more about her from Wikipedia.

Onto the books I bought:

(A) Moon Tiger: This book won the Booker Prize in the year 1987. It comes as a complete welcome to the already Booker  Prize books on my shelves. The copy I have is published by Penguin.

(B) According to Mark: I kind of like the cover picture of this book for no particular reason…! I am tempted to think that it would be an interesting read. It is also published by Penguin.

(C) Heat Wave: This is the third I bought. It looks too old and has some rough writings on its first page which suggests the identity of the owner of the book. However, I am glad I am the new owner…!

Have you read any of these books? Do you know anything about this author? Please, let me know through your comments.

I borrowed this book from the library and so at the moment the copy is not with me. I actually reviewed the book based on those stories I enjoyed. Thanks.
