My usual weekend visits to the bookstores saw me purchase two books. The influences for acquiring these books are none other than good recommendations and reviews I have read from many book blogs.
The books as follows:
(A) The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald – I have heard so much about Fitzgerald but never have I picked up his book before. Interesting though, that at long last I’ve gotten hold of this book. The Great Gatsby is his third book. Many critics have said of this book as one of the great classics of twentieth-century literature. In fact, I love the quote from the front page. It reads:
‘Then wear the gold hat, if that will move her;
If you can bounce high, bounce for her too,
Till she cry ‘Lover, gold – hatted, high – bouncing lover,
I must have you!’
(B) No Easy Walk To Freedom by Nelson Mandela – Mandela proves to be one of the most important political figures living in the world today. Almost everywhere in the world, I believe, his name ring bells. From the front cover is written, ‘In his own words.’ I can’t wait to read what this great leader has written about in his own words.
Have you read any of these books? Have you heard about these books? Please leave me a comment.
Have read parts of the second. Not all… my heart was boiling while reading it… The Great Gatsby, I have also heard is a good read. Enjoy them Geosi.
