What am I Reading Now?

I am currently reading Elizabeth-Irene Baitie’s ‘The Twelfth Heart’. The Twelfth Heart won the 2009 Burt Award for African Literature (Ghana).

After reading the 2nd and 3rd place winners and having enjoyed them both, I was interested in reading the 1st place winner. I just bought this book today, started reading today and would be reviewing it by next week.

I am almost half way through and I am enjoying it. I would not attempt to share my thoughts now until I have completed the entire book. Let me rather share with you what the synopsis says:

‘When Mercy came to her new school near Accra, she knew exactly the sort of friends she wanted to make: certainly no-one who reminded her of the small town she had left behind – poor; ugly and dull. She did not realise that true friendship comes from the heart, and that the least likely of the twelve girls in her dormitory would come to mean the most to them all.’

The book is published by Kwadwoan Publishers and at One – Hundred and Seventy Four pages long.
