Jonathan Cape Has Acquired Mark Haddon’s New Novel The Red House

Jonathan Cape has acquired Mark Haddon’s new novel The Red House. Mark Haddon is the author of the bestselling The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time and A Spot of Bother.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time sold over 2.5 million copies in the UK, won more than 17 literary awards worldwide and has been translated into 44 languages. A Spot of Bother also received extraordinary critical acclaim, sold almost 800,000 copies in the UK and hit the bestseller lists across the globe.

Dan Franklin, publisher at Jonathan Cape, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Clare Alexander at Aitken Alexander Associates, and will publish in May 2012. Vintage will publish the novel in paperback in 2013. The Red House has already been snapped up by ten publishers worldwide, including America and Canada, with sales to many more expected.
