Helon Habila for 2012 Orion Book Award

Nigerian author, Helon Habila has been nominated as a finalist for the 2012 Orion Book Award for his latest novel, Oil on Water.

There are five finalists nominated for the award:

1. Fire Season, by Philip Connors (Ecco)

2. Oil on Water by Helon Habila (W.W. Norton & Co.)

3. Swamplandia!, by Karen Russell (Vintage)

4. The View from Lazy Point, by Carl Safina (Picador)

5. Raising Elijah, by Sandra Steingraber (De Capo)

The Orion Book Award is given annually to a book that addresses the human relationship with the natural world in a fresh, thought provoking, and engaging manner.

The winner will be announced on May 3rd, 2012.

    I’ve only read Swamplandia!; the first two were already on my TBR list, and I’ve now added the other two. Prize lists sure do add to reading lists!
