Biography:
Jeffrey Alfier is 2014 winner of the Kithara Book Prize, judged by Dennis Maloney. He has been nominated for seven Pushcarts, and is a two-time nominee for the UK’s Forward Prize for Poetry.
Geosi Gyasi: Do you remember your first piece of writing?
Jeffrey Alfier: Oh yes – it was horrible. I wrote brief, drunken poems about Greek goddesses and such, and tried to sound high-handed and intellectual. None of that stuff I ever kept.
